Part 5
Just as relentless as a galestorm, however, are the four who face the monster. Despite its best efforts it is outmatched against the four. Eventually it weakens and tires, and it is Diluc who goes in for an attack that ends up dealing the final blow. The creature crumbles and falls, succumbing to the relentless pace and its injuries.
There is a breath of relief that washes over the watching patrons of the bar. Dainsleif steps forward, wrapping the remains of the Riftwolf in a restrain of blue. He closes his hand in a harsh fist and the traces of the Abyss crumple and disintegrate until they are no more.
The wind clears and the night is as still and lazy as it was before. The door is still open, but it lets in nothing but fragile moonlight that settles across the threshold. The lights come on again in the tavern and the warm atmosphere and an exuberant tavern returns. People blink and look around at the stark and sudden change.
Kaeya catches his breath as he straightens out his shirt. “Well then, I suppose that’s over with.”
“It looks like we succeeded!” Venti calls. “We have slain the beast!”
“We?” Diluc questions. “From my vantage point it looks like you sat there the whole time.”
Venti offers him an innocent smile as he holds up a mug. “Details. I think a round of drinks is in order to celebrate?”
That receives a cheer as Kaeya and Rosaria take seats at the bar as well. Someone closes the door and music and singing begins again. Soon, others start to mingle, and the din of laughter and good conversation fills this pocket of Mondstadt once again. For one more night of high-spirits, all is well. For one more night of high spirits, all is well.
